CirQualityOWL plus: Sustainable Economic Transformation in Ostwestfalen-Lippe
With the “CirQualityOWL plus” project, Ostwestfalen-Lippe is significantly driving the transition to a sustainable, circular economy. Funded by approximately 2.5 million Euros from state and EU funds (ERDF) and supported by 11 committed partners, the Circular Economy is being translated from theory into practice. The goal is to use resources more efficiently, minimize waste, and systematically promote the reuse of materials.
The project complements the activities of the AI lighthouse project Smart-E-Factory, which combines energy optimization with circular concepts at SmartFactoryOWL. Project partners include renowned organizations such as Fraunhofer IOSB-INA, Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, and the District of Lippe. Together, they are developing solutions for sustainable supply chain management, circular economy in construction, and innovative strategies for waste and recycling processes.
Through cross-sector alliances between research, industry, and administration, qualification measures in the field of Circular Economy are being implemented, and forward-looking methods for the regional economy are being developed. The broad network of over 200 supporters demonstrates the region’s strong commitment to sustainable development.
CirQualityOWL plus builds on the experience of successful projects such as CirQualityOWL, Lippe zirkulär, and the Smart Recycling Factory, contributing valuable expertise to the transformation. This further strengthens Ostwestfalen-Lippe as a pioneering region in the Circular Economy and actively contributes to ecological and economic sustainability for the future.
